Telling the Stories That Make a Difference

Depth of Field empowers underrepresented voices in documentary filmmaking through education, mentorship, and global storytelling initiatives.

Depth of Field is committed to empowering underrepresented voices in documentary filmmaking. We equip young, aspiring filmmakers from marginalized communities worldwide with the skills, resources, and opportunities to tell their own stories authentically and powerfully.

Our mission is to cultivate a new generation of storytellers — primarily from BIPOC and economically disadvantaged backgrounds — by providing professional training, essential resources, and industry standard wages. The films born from this initiative will uncover underreported truths, challenge historical narratives, and foster healing through creative expression.

Upon each film's completion, we will champion global distribution, securing placements at leading film festivals and on major streaming platforms such as Apple, Netflix, Max, and Hulu.

Beyond filmmaking, Depth of Field will expand its impact through after-school programs for underserved students in New York, building on our successful partnership with Robeson High School in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. These programs will nurture the next wave of storytellers from the ground up, ensuring their voices are heard and their perspectives are seen.

Message

We believe in the profound power of visual storytelling to cultivate empathy, spark meaningful dialogue, and drive lasting social change.

Photography and cinema are more than artistic mediums — they are vital tools for personal and collective healing. The act of creating art can serve as a therapeutic outlet, helping individuals process and transcend trauma. Through the documentation of personal testimonies, untold stories come to light — fostering greater awareness, understanding, and ultimately accountability.

By giving voice to the lived experiences that are often overlooked or suppressed, visual storytelling not only honors those who share their truths, but also challenges audiences to engage with complex realities — paving the way for a more compassionate and just world.
